This thing is really unusual, I really don’t understand what it is. There is a grid of pompoms that are red on the surface but navy underneath all of which are tied. to this matrix of cotton strings. Its not woven or knit, just tied at the intersection of the axis of the white cotton. It seems as if it has used for something because the pompoms are compressed so they are squared off in such a cool way, but the color is so fresh and vibrant and the white underneath is so clean. My first thought was that it was like a saddle blanket for a teeny tiny very clean horse. Anyone know a textile historian with free time on their hands they could recommend?
